Mutha brunchers

Ah, Mother’s Day. The one day of the year that you’ll just have to suck up those criticisms about how you still haven’t accomplished anything with your life and “Why can’t you be more like your sister?” just like everyone else. This is her day, so do it with a smile!

And you best remember to buy your present. Don’t make it another obvious last minute stop off at Walgreens, because she knows. What better way to celebrate the woman who endured the nine months and pains of child rearing than a delightful Mother’s Day brunch at any one of these fine Chicago dining establishments?

Duchamp serving brunch again

For those of you who have been showing up to Duchamp for brunch for the past few months, sorry for the late notice, but apparently they have not been serving brunch since winter. But good news! Duchamp is located at 2118 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown. For more information, call 773.235.6434, or visit duchamp-chicago.com.

Brunchin’ book signing

312 Dining Diva reports that Ms. Gale Gand will be promoting her new book, Gale Gand’s Brunch! with book signing brunch at The Bristol on May 17 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. for $37. Though Gand will probably have her hands full with books instead of working the kitchen, executive chef Chris Pandel plans to serve up a taste of what’s in store for the book. If $37 sounds steep, consider that it’s probably one of the better try-before-you-buy experiences, and a lot easier than trying to accomplish the Alinea Book.

Yolk to open River North location in May

Apparently, there are a number of people who turn around as soon as they start seeing numbered streets. If you fall into that special category of people, you’ve probably been missing out on South Loop’s Yolk, as well as half of the city. Still can’t be bothered? Now you can be less inconvenienced as Yolk is set to open a second location in River North near the corner of Chicago and Wells, tentatively dated June 1. The space is still being renovated, but if you want to sneak a peek, the sign is already up at 741 N. Wells St.
